Why Is Eye Care So Important?
It is important that we all do our best to take care of our eyes.
While we don’t usually think about our eye health until an injury occurs, our team at AFC Urgent Care Athens TN wants you to share some tips about how you can improve your eye health during Eye Care Month this January.
Why Is It Important to Take Care of Your Eyes?
When you have poor vision or diminished eye health, daily tasks become harder to complete. For example, poor vision can make it harder for you to drive, read and even cook.
Therefore, it is important for you to do what you can to promote health vision on a daily basis, such as through the foods you eat.
Superfoods for Eye Health

- Nuts
- Legumes

- Citrus fruits

How Do I Take Better Care of My Eyes?
Fortunately, there are many ways you can start taking better care of your eyes. First, you want to make sure you are eating five servings a day of fruits and vegetables. If you are a smoker, quit, since smoking has been linked with a higher risk of several eye health conditions. Plus, when heading outdoors, you want to make sure you have on your UVA/UVB sunglasses to help protect your eyes from the strong UV rays—even during the winter.
Remember, when it comes to your eyesight, early detection is key. If it has been awhile since your last eye exam, make an appointment to have your vision checked. Even if you haven’t had an eye injury, it is important to stay ahead of the game in order to put your best eye health forward for years to come!
